Photos: all about you
Choose a few clear, recent photos that show you as you are.
- Lead with a clear photo of your face. Natural light and a smile go a long way.
- Add a couple that show your life. A walk, a hobby, a day out. They give people something to talk about.
- Leave your children out. Keep them out of your photos, even with their faces hidden or cropped. It protects their privacy, and your profile is about you.
- Keep them recent. Photos from the last year or so mean nobody is surprised when you meet.
Writing about yourself
Short, friendly and honest is better than long and perfect.
Mention that you're a parent in a positive way, then talk about you: what makes you laugh, what you enjoy when you get a free evening, and what you're hoping to find. A line about what a good weekend looks like gives people an easy way to start a conversation.
- Instead of "My kids are my world, nothing else matters", try "Proud mum of two. When I get a free evening, you'll find me at the cinema or trying a new recipe."
- Instead of "No time-wasters", try "Looking for someone kind who's up for a proper chat and a walk on the weekend."
Say what you're looking for
Being clear helps the right people find you.
Whether it's a relationship, friendship or simply some good conversation, say so. You can also show whether your children live with you full time or part time, which helps people understand your time.
What to keep back
Children's names, their school, your address and your workplace can all wait until you know someone well. For more on why, read how to spot a fake dating profile. And to show people you're genuine, earn the ID Verified tick and the other badges.
